Social Responsibility Charter

In October 2006, NSGC adopted a Social Responsibility Charter that sets out our social responsibility commitments to the industry, to our operators and retailers, and to the citizens of Nova Scotia.

The most important of these commitments: ensuring players stay responsible. When even one Nova Scotian experiences a gambling problem, the impacts can be devastating. That's why the cornerstone of NSGC's Social Responsibility Charter is, and always will be, responsible gambling and prevention programming. And we integrate this commitment into everything we do. Our operators, Atlantic Lottery Corporation and Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, played an important part in the development of this Charter. Their participation in the new programs we will be implementing is essential. By ensuring the right programs are undertaken within these components of social responsibility, NSGC will move our commitments from the page to the pavement.

Our goal for the Social Responsibility Charter is to help ensure we continue to move in the right direction and enable the people we care about to understand us better. And we hope that as we deliver on our promises, we will continue to earn the trust and respect of all Nova Scotians.

Five pillars form the framework of our Social Responsibility Charter:

1. Responsible Gambling
2. Integrity and Security
3. Citizens and Communities
4. Corporate Governance
5. Stakeholder Relationships
