Now that I have enrolled, how do I get started?
It’s as easy as inserting the card, entering your PIN and using the simple on-screen touch menus.

If I forget my PIN or lose my card, will I be able to play VLTs?
If you lose your card or forget your PIN, see the staff at the VLT location. They can help you with a new PIN or a new card. If you get a new card, your old one will no longer be valid. Even if you find it, it will not work. All your past play history will, however, still be available to you through your new card.

Do I need to set a money or time limit before I can play a VLT?
Use of the player information tools is voluntary. If you want to use the tools or set limits, it’s entirely up to you.

Will the government track my play if I use the card?
The answer is no. Quite simply: your business is none of our business. Only certain parts of your information are used to create your player account but none of it is kept. Once your personal account is set up, there is no way anyone can track you or your play. My-Play is designed to protect your privacy and anonymity.

How will you ensure player privacy is kept?
Personal information is used to generate a unique player account number only. Once the player account number is generated, all personal information is permanently deleted from the system. An independent privacy assessment was conducted and confirmed that the system is completely anonymous.

Will Government have access to the play data in order to contact players directly about their play?
Government will have access to play data but it cannot be linked to a player’s identity.

Do you have any plans to continue to monitor and evaluate?
Nova Scotia is the first in the world to test and implement this type of interactive, player specific information tool that puts control in players’ hands. Given that this is a world-first, we will continue to carefully evaluate its impact.

NSGC has engaged the Responsible Gambling Council of Canada to conduct a two-phase research initiative. The first phase involves gaining a comprehensive understanding of the current VLT market and Video Lottery player behaviours. The second phase will involve measuring the My-Play System impact on the Video Lottery market and player behaviour after it has been in the market for about one year.

Will the My-Play System let others see my information?
No it won’t, unless you share your card and PIN with them. My-Play is completely anonymous and play data cannot be linked to any individual player. This has been verified by a third-party privacy expert.

Is the My-Play System only for problem gamblers?
My-Play is about preventing a problem before in starts. It’s meant for new or existing players who want to use information tools to make play choices that will continue responsible gambling behavior. Preliminary research suggests that My-Play may have some benefit for higher risk players, which is encouraging.
