An interactive peer-led problem gambling awareness program developed by the Responsible Gambling Council (RGC), Know the Score is offered on community college and university campuses across Nova Scotia. An interactive booth is located in a high-traffic area of the campus and provides information to dispel common myths about randomness, alert students to the signs of problem gambling, tell them where they can get help locally for gambling problems and suggests ways to limit gambling risks.
To encourage more student involvement and participation, local students are hired to help deliver the program. This team of students works together with a representative from NSGC to provide information and educational materials to their peers.
Since 2004, Know the Score has been delivered on 18 college and university campuses across Nova Scotia. To date, the program has reached approximately 34,000 students.
