NSGC Seeks Innovative Guest Speakers for Nova Scotia’s Responsible Gambling Conference 2008

 

Have unique insight into social responsibility in the gaming industry? Have an idea for the next hot topic in responsible gambling? Know how to inspire and generate ideas among a diverse group? Looking to help solve an industry-wide challenge? If so, the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation (NSGC) wants to hear from you!

 

NSGC is now accepting proposals outlining innovative presentation topics and conference session suggestions.

 

Conference Information

·        The Conference will be held October 6 and 7 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

·        Approximately 250 delegates will be in attendance including industry professionals, treatment providers, researchers, etc.  

·        Each session is approximately 60 minutes which includes the introduction, presentation and time for questions and answers.

·        The focus is on responsible gambling and social responsibility within the gaming industry.

·        Presentations and sessions are encouraged to follow an interactive and discussion-based format.

·        Content is broken into two streams: one that is industry-based and focused on responsible gambling and another that addresses community interests, such as research, education and prevention.

·        The overall goal of the two-day event is to solve common challenges faced by both industry and community participants.

 

Instructions for Submitting a Proposal

·        All proposals must be received by Friday, March 14, 2008.

·        Email submissions in Microsoft Word format to Julie Whitehead, Responsible Gambling Officer, Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation, at jwhitehead@nsgc.ca. 

·        Please pitch your idea for a conference session that will break the mould in 200 words or less.

·        Please include a description of how you’ll generate interactivity, discussion and brainstorming, what new and relevant information you’ll present, and what issue or challenge your session will address.

·        Include a bulleted list of previous speaking engagements.

·        Please include your speaker’s fee, if you charge one.

 

Proposal Review

·        Members of the Conference Committee will review all proposals and select the ones that best suit Nova Scotia’s Responsible Gambling Conference.

·        Notification of acceptance will be sent no later than Friday, March 28, 2008.

 

  Expectations of Presenters

·        Presenters are expected to meet all deadlines which will be set after presenters are selected.

·        Presenters will present session content as it is described in their proposal unless the presenter and NSGC discuss otherwise.

·        Presenters will provide a high-quality PowerPoint Presentation by the date requested after the selection process is complete.

·        All presenters will be expected to provide consent to having their photo taken during the Conference, consent to have presentation distributed to attendees and posted online, and be available for press interviews if requested.

 

NSGC Commitments

All chosen presenters will:

·        Receive complimentary registration to the Conference.

·        Receive an economy-class flight to Halifax, Nova Scotia for the Conference if travelling from outside the Halifax area.

·        Receive lodging and meals for the duration of the Conference.

·        Have the opportunity to educate and inform other industry and community leaders about their expertise.
