NSGC Launches New Support 4 Sport Lottery Products
Thursday, May 24, 2007
May 24, 2007 – Halifax: The Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation (NSGC) launched the newest lottery tickets in their Support 4 Sport program today to enhance sports funding “from playground to podium”.
The first tickets in the 2007-08 series include a sports-themed Nova Scotia Special Edition Crossword ticket with top prizes of $50,000 and a Breakopen ticket called “Joe Fit”. More tickets will be unveiled throughout the year with all profits going to benefit amateur sport across the Province.
“Any time someone buys a lottery ticket with the Support 4 Sport logo on it, they know one hundred percent of the profits will go directly to amateur sport in Nova Scotia to create opportunities for everyone from 5-year-olds who want to play soccer to 19-year-olds who want to compete in Olympic paddling, to 60-year-olds who want to play recreational tennis,” says Marie Mullally, President & CEO of NSGC.
This year, the Support 4 Sport program will raise at least $2 million that will be used to buy sports equipment, create and enhance recreation/participation programming for all ages, support performance training programs for competitive athletes and hire coaches at all levels.
The Crossword and Breakopen Support 4 Sport tickets are being sold in retail locations across Nova Scotia and more tickets will be introduced throughout the year, giving players even more opportunities to support sport. As with all Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC) products, these games are only available for sale to adults 19 years of age and older.
NSGC is the crown corporation responsible for managing the business of gaming for Government in Nova Scotia. NSGC launched the Support 4 Sport program in August 2006 and so far almost $375,000 has been raised for amateur sport. The objectives of the program are to increase province-wide participation rates; create better access to effective programs; provide benefits to both urban and rural communities; and, give all Nova Scotians the opportunity to get “from playground to podium”.
