NSGC Presents Support 4 Sport Funding to Amateur Sport

support 4 sport

May 1, 2007 – Surrounded by athletes and athletic supporters at the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame, the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation (NSGC) showed it’s “support for sport” when President and CEO, Marie Mullally presented a $200,000 cheque to Sport Nova Scotia’s Amateur Sport Fund. The $200,000 was part of the money raised from a Support 4 Sport scratch ticket that was launched by NSGC in August 2006.

One hundred per cent of all Support 4 Sport branded lottery products goes directly to amateur sport in Nova Scotia. The program will raise at least $2 million a year and is the biggest funding initiative to ever benefit sport in Nova Scotia or Sport Nova Scotia. The money will be used to buy sports equipment, create and enhance recreation/participation programming for all ages, support performance training programs for competitive athletes and hire coaches at all levels.

A new suite of Support 4 Sport tickets will be launched in May 2007 and will be sold in Atlantic Lottery retail locations across Nova Scotia. As with all ALC products, these games are only available for sale to adults 19 years of age and older.

NSGC would like to thank Sport Nova Scotia, Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic and IKON for making this announcement very special for all of Nova Scotia.
