On August 27, 1976, an inter-provincial agreement was signed by the four Atlantic Provinces to establish an Atlantic Lottery organization to manage and operate lottery on their behalf. 100% of Atlantic Lottery’s profits are returned to Atlantic Canadian provincial governments to fund essential programs and services such as health care and education. In 2010-11, ALC returned $371 million, to these four shareholders:
Each shareholder appoints two directors to the Board of Directors, which determines the strategic direction and corporate policies, and guides business operations. In addition to the eight voting members, additional support and guidance is provided by an independent chair, which is a non-voting position.

In Nova Scotia, Atlantic Lottery acts as NSGC's agent in operating both ticket and video lottery programs. Tickets include national draw games like Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max; regional draw games like Bucko, Twist and TAG; Scratch'N Win games like Crossword and Bingo; breakopen games like Criss Cross, as well as sports games like PRO•LINE. Video lottery games include Gone Fishin’, Cleopatra and DaVinci’s Diamonds.
