Benefits of Participating

1. You will receive BetStopper free of charge.
Participants in the pilot test will be provided with the BetStopper software free of charge until October 1, 2007.

2. You will feel more at ease with your children being online.
The benefit to installing BetStopper on your home computer(s) is that it will act as a safeguard and help put you at ease when your children are online. Although you should always be aware of what websites or chat rooms your children are frequenting, after installing BetStopper, you won't have to worry that they might be gambling. Nor will they be playing in online poker tournaments that only adults should be participating in, even if those tournaments are being played with "fake" money. Fake money gambling sites are equally unsafe as they teach children inappropriate gambling behaviours. BetStopper has been vigorously tested in an effort to make it the most effective program on the market at blocking online gambling content however, as is the case with all technology, it cannot be expected to be 100% effective.

3. You will be eligible to receive prizes.
Participants in the pilot test will be expected to complete three short online surveys. Once a participant completes and submits each survey, they will be entered into a draw for one of two prizes. The first prize will be a $600 gift certificate to Future Shop (which can be used in-store or online) and the second will be an Apple iPod Shuffle and accompanying accessories (valued at approximately $150). Prizes will be awarded for the completion of each survey, meaning you will have three chances to win if you complete them all. These surveys will be used to evaluate the effectiveness and usability of the product and help NSGC determine whether it would be a valuable tool for parents/caregivers on a long-term basis
