Being responsible. It's something we all do in our daily lives - for our families, our jobs and ourselves. At the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation, it means reaching out across the province to create a safe and healthy gambling industry, benefiting our people and our communities.

Social responsibility is such an intrinsic part of what we do, we've become leaders in it. With one of the lowest rates of problem gambling in Canada, our ground-breaking initiatives are catching the attention of organizations around the world. Initiatives like social marketing campaigns and high-school awareness programs. Best-practice methods such as reducing accessibility through the removal of 1,000 video lottery terminals and opening Responsible Gambling Resource Centres in both casinos... And cutting edge research, like the Responsible Gaming Device project, that helps us make informed decisions that are in the best interest of our Province.

There's an old expression that you if don't move forward, you end up going backwards. As the steward of the Nova Scotia gaming industry, we take this expression to heart. We're constantly looking for new ways to foster an economically sustainable, responsible, and entertaining gambling industry. It's a critical part of our commitment to improving the lives of Nova Scotians. With initiatives such as Support4Sport, a suite of gaming products that directs 100% of profits to strengthening sport programs throughout Nova Scotia; a commitment to responsibly grow aspects of the gambling business such as online ticket lottery and the charitable gaming sector; and the sponsorship of more than a dozen responsible gambling education and prevention programs, NSGC is actively moving forward and working to build an industry that Nova Scotians can be proud of.

We work for Nova Scotians. At the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation, it's important to us that you feel confident about the way we're managing the business of gaming. It's part of being accountable – we manage, we listen and we respond.

It's our job to generate revenue that will benefit everyone, right across the province. Every dollar of profit that is made from regulated, responsible gambling goes directly back into programs and services that improve your quality of life. Healthcare, roads, schools, cultural industries – last year these sectors enjoyed a $141.6 million injection of funding thanks to the gaming industry. The Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation supports the economy in other ways as well – employing approximately 650 people and last year paying out $39.8 million in commissions to 1,442 retail establishments.
